Responsibilities
Provide legal support for certain West Region network markets, including California, on the Network Legal Team
Work collaboratively with a team of attorneys and legal professionals across the enterprise
Serve as counsel to leadership in the development, structuring and execution of all aspects of the company's relationships with healthcare providers
Draft and negotiate contracts with our largest and most complex health care provider partners
Manage the resolution of disputes, support arbitration proceedings and draft settlement agreements
Acquire deep knowledge of the industry and the specific business practices of the company's provider network operations
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctorate degree
License to practice law in one or more states
5+ years of relevant professional legal experience in an attorney capacity
Experience in advising senior leadership on legal matters
Experience with drafting and negotiating complex contracts
Experience with highly regulated industries
Experience collaborating across a legal team
Proven ability to drive results
Proven solid work ethic
Proven well-developed written and verbal communications skills
Proven ability to evaluate and determine appropriate legal course of action to meet business needs
Proven ability to build and maintain rapport with superiors, peers, subordinates and external company contacts
Preferred
Experience managing pre-litigation matters
Experience with capitated provider arrangements
Experience with healthcare regulatory agencies
Experience with capitated contracts
Understanding of healthcare benefit coverage
Understanding of health insurance and managed care industry
Knowledge of relevant Federal and West Region state laws and regulations
