Assistant Coordinator

Responsibilities

Conducts prompt, thorough, impartial, and equitable investigations of reports of power-based violence for Southern University and A&M College and the Southern University System Office consistent with applicable laws and System and University policy and procedures
Responsible for keeping thorough, accurate, comprehensive records related to all assigned case investigations
Maintain investigative files
Assist the Title IX Coordinator with development, implementation, coordination, and conduction of educational programs and initiatives designed to educate and support students and employees of Southern University and A&M College and the Southern University System Office regarding their rights and obligations under Title IX of the 1972 Education Amendments, the Louisiana Campus Accountability and Safety Act, any other relevant federal or state laws or regulations, including reporting options/responsibilities, support services, System and University policies, and applicable disciplinary code, grievance procedures, and confidential resources, etc
Develop, implement, coordinate, and conduct educational programs and initiatives designed to educate and support students and employees of Southern University and A&M College’s Department of Athletics regarding their rights and obligations under Title IX of the 1972 Education Amendments, the Louisiana Campus Accountability and Safety Act, any other relevant federal or state laws or regulations, including reporting options/responsibilities, support services, System and University policies, and applicable disciplinary code, grievance procedures, and confidential resources, etc
Assist the ADA Coordinator in assuring that students, employees, and the general public eligible for accommodations are provided equal access to all college instruction and programs in accordance with System policies, the Americans with Disability Act of 1990, its Amending Act of 2008, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Title IX of the 1972 Education Amendments, the Fair Housing Act of 1988, and any other relevant federal or state laws or regulations. This includes:
Serving as the secondary point of contact regarding concerns and inquiries on ADA issues
Assisting in the processes and requirements outlined in the Americans with Disabilities Act and Pregnant Workers Fairness Act Policy as assigned by the ADA Coordinator or Associate Vice Chancellor for Compliance
Assisting the ADA Coordinator with case and file management
Assist the Disability Services Coordinator with disability services testing for students with disabilities who receive testing accommodations
Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice Chancellor for Compliance or System and University policies
