Responsibilities

Develops advanced water quality models for TMDLs, waste load allocations, and effluent mixing, using field data, chemical analyses, and hydrologic studies to simulate pollutant impacts
Applies engineering expertise to simulate hydrology and water chemistry/biology, tailoring model complexity to project needs—from simple allocations to detailed effluent mixing scenarios
Identifies and integrates point and nonpoint source loads into TMDL development, contributing to scientific papers and ensuring regulatory compliance through thorough documentation
Coordinates with Water Surveys Section on field survey planning, advising on data types, collection methods, quality control, and logistical needs to support modeling accuracy
Reviews technical reports from internal teams, regulated facilities, and contractors, providing engineering assessments and recommending approval for EPA or DEQ distribution
