Fractional CFO - Midwest & Northeast Regions
McCracken partners with CEOs, owners, and investors to provide strategic finance leadership. They are seeking experienced Fractional CFOs to support growth and transition for founder-led and mission-driven organizations across the Midwest & Northeast regions of the U.S.
Responsibilities
You will step in as the senior finance leader for clients that need a true strategic partnership
Serve as a strategic partner to CEOs/owners and leadership teams on growth, profitability, and capital allocation
Build and improve forecasting, budgeting, and KPI dashboards that drive decisions, not just reports
Lead cash flow strategy, working capital optimization, and margin/profitability initiatives
Provide board- and investor-ready reporting and decision support for key strategic choices
Support capital raises, diligence readiness, and M&A/ M&A/transaction work as needed
Strengthen finance operations (close cadence, controls, systems/process improvements)
Coach and develop controllers and finance teams so that value persists beyond your departure
Qualification
Required
8+ years of progressive finance experience with senior leadership responsibility
Experience as CFO / VP Finance / Head of Finance (or equivalent)
Strong FP&A and modeling capabilities; confident in translating data into decisions for non-finance stakeholders
Solid accounting fluency (GAAP) and a practical, controls-oriented mindset
Executive presence with clear, concise communication in boardrooms and with operators
You are comfortable context-switching, setting expectations upfront, and owning outcomes in fast-moving, often ambiguous environments
