Business Development Director (Events Industry)
Select Search Group is seeking a driven Business Development Director to lead new revenue growth through strategic partnerships and high-impact sales initiatives. The role involves identifying and closing new business opportunities while building strong client relationships and collaborating with internal teams to deliver exceptional outcomes.
Responsibilities
Identify, qualify, and close new business opportunities within targeted industries
Build and grow a sales territory through cold outreach, referrals, and in-person engagement
Develop strong client relationships rooted in trust, service, and results
Drive repeat business with new and existing clients through upselling, cross-selling, and long-term account growth
Present solutions, prepare proposals, negotiate terms, and close deals
Collaborate with internal teams to deliver exceptional client outcomes
Track activity, maintain CRM data, and report on pipeline and territory performance
Stay current on industry trends, product offerings, and competitive insights
Qualification
Required
4+ years of sales or business development experience
Proven success managing large-scale, high-value (including seven-figure) sales opportunities
Strong prospecting, closing, and negotiation skills
Cold-calling skills (40 per day, on average)
Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building abilities
Strategic, consultative sales mindset with a hunter mentality
Proficiency with CRM systems and sales tools
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and results-driven
Preferred
Background in event production, experiential marketing, brand agencies, event structures, sponsorships, or professional sports
