Watershed Maintainer

They are seeking a Watershed Maintainer to ensure the integrity of water supply lands through inspections and maintenance, while supporting sustainable recreational opportunities.

Responsibilities
Maintaining the integrity of water supply lands by conducting inspections, which include conservation easements and fee properties to identify trespassing, encroachment, pollution, hazardous situations, vandalism, dumping and potential violations
Reporting any instance of non-compliance or issue of concern regarding violation of policy, standards, or procedures to supervisor
Inspecting and maintaining boundary lines and monuments so that they are easily located in the field by department staff, recreational users and adjoining landowners and in accordance with established policy
Assisting with providing sustainable recreational opportunities to permit holders including issuance of boat tags, steam cleaning boats, boat mooring inspections and recreational use inspections
Assisting with preparing properties for acquisition
Forwarding requests for use of City lands, conservation easements and other special projects
Cleaning and maintaining facilities grounds, structures and equipment; Painting structures, equipment and fences
Complying with all environmental, health and safety laws, agency policies, rules and regulations
Qualification
Required
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and one of the following: One year of full-time satisfactory experience in the operation and maintenance of equipment used in the controlling or purification of water at facilities in watershed areas, reservoirs, or aqueduct systems, or performing duties involving the upkeep, inspection, maintenance or operation of watershed areas and related facilities
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and one of the following: Two years of full-time satisfactory experience as: a mechanic, journeyman or helper in the electrical trades or mechanical trades; or a technician in a chemical processing facility or chemical laboratory
By the time you are appointed to this position, you must have a motor vehicle driver license valid in the State of New York. This license must be maintained for the duration of your employment
Preferred
General Familiarity of MS Office suites and MS outlook
Ability to navigate CityTime timekeeping program
Ability to learn how to use a computerized maintenance management system and a computer tablet to receive work orders and input data
A Class B Commercial Driver's License valid in the State of New York
NYSDEC Pesticide Applicator Certification
Ability to work will hand or power tools
Ability to keep good written and electronic records
Ability to operate motor vehicles and motor-powered equipment
