Howden is a global insurance broker with over 22,000 employees and aims to triple in size by 2030. They are seeking an Employment Lawyer Associate to assist senior employment law counsel in providing legal advice and support on a wide range of employment law matters across the United States.

Responsibilities
Supporting the Human Resources and management teams related to hiring, performance management, discipline, employment classification, benefits, employee relations, terminations, and immigration matters
Collaborating and supporting Human Resources and compliance personnel on the development, implementation, and maintenance of employment policies, procedures, and best practices that comply with applicable laws and regulations
Monitoring changes in employment laws and regulations at both the federal and state level (including but not limited to Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, ADEA, and OSHA) and providing guidance on their impact on the organization’s policies and practices
Drafting various legal documents, including employment contracts, severance agreements, restrictive covenants, and confidentiality agreements
Reviewing and analyzing various legal documents and providing guidance to the organization with regard to employment contracts, restrictive covenants, and confidentiality agreements
Assisting with or conducting training sessions for employees and management teams on employment law topics, ensuring awareness and compliance with company policies and current legal requirements
Conducting or overseeing internal workplace investigations
Providing advice and guidance with regard to employee leave situations and accommodation requests
Assisting in-house counsel with active employment litigation, including responding to discovery requests, conducting legal research, and managing and reviewing documents
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
Active membership in good standing with a state bar association or other state licensing organization
4-8 years of experience practicing employment law, preferably with a focus on corporate employment law, either in private practice or in-house
Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply legal principles to practical business situations
Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts clearly and concisely to non-legal professionals
Ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including Human Resources, management teams, and employees at all levels
Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Ability to respond to unanticipated stakeholder requests on tight timelines
Public speaking skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products and AI tools
