Responsibilities
Lead and manage complex, cross-functional projects within Finance Budget Operations, focused on improving the efficiency, effectiveness, and performance of financial programs, systems, and processes
Plan, organize, and execute projects from initiation through completion, ensuring alignment with established project management standards, best practices, timelines, and funding parameters
Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, translating business needs into actionable project plans and assessing impacts at each project phase
Develop and maintain project plans, resource strategies, schedules, and funding estimates to support successful project delivery
Manage project scope, including documenting requirements and facilitating approvals for changes to cost, schedule, or performance
Forecast project resource needs and provide recommendations to leadership regarding staffing and workload allocation
Monitor project schedules and budgets, proactively identifying risks, delays, or funding concerns and recommending mitigation strategies
Provide regular project status updates, reports, and final deliverables, including documenting outcomes and lessons learned
Support team effectiveness by coordinating project activities, facilitating meetings, and fostering collaboration across project teams and sub-teams
Maintain accurate project documentation, workflows, schedules, and budgets within the designated project management system
Actively manage project risks by identifying issues, maintaining risk and action logs, and developing contingency plans to minimize or eliminate potential impacts
Ensure consistent communication with project sponsors, managers, and stakeholders regarding progress, risks, and recommended adjustments to keep projects aligned with goals
Qualification
Required
A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field is preferred
With Bachelor's Degree, 10 years of direct work experience is required
With a Bachelor's Degree not in applicable fields, or without a degree, 14 years of direct work experience is required
Experience must include direct work experience in a Finance project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution, including strong familiarity with project management software
10 years of demonstrated project management experience, to include:
Fundamental operation, function, and workflow of a project management system regarding timelines, dependencies, deliverables, milestones, and resources
Use of industry standard methods and tools for managing schedules, dependencies, resources, funding and development of technical specifications and project plans
Coordinating or running multiple projects simultaneously
Working knowledge of System Life Cycle (SLC) principles
Demonstrated experience with Visio flowcharts is Required
Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Project is required
Experience in financial project management: 10 years (Required)
Preferred
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred
Experience in iterative development (e.g. Agile, Scrum, Lean, Six Sigma) is preferred
Experience in a utility, government, or finance organization is preferred
Demonstrated experience planning and leading organizational change management activities is preferred
Demonstrated experience to facilitate requirements development or business process mapping is preferred
