Responsibilities
Create site layouts and civil land development design sheet sets in AutoCAD and Civil 3D for utility-scale and commercial renewable energy projects
Lead multiple projects or significant portions of larger projects with minimal supervision
Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering procedures, techniques, and criteria
Prepare project documentation, including drawings, calculations, and supporting technical materials
Formulate and solve engineering problems related to grading, drainage, access roads, and site constraints
Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, and codes
Acquire and apply advanced knowledge of renewable energy project layouts and components
Receive guidance, when necessary, on unconventional or complex problems and modified techniques
Receive a review of completed work for application of sound professional judgment
Support client interaction for multiple projects within a portfolio
Attend project meetings and present specific aspects of engineering assignments with confidence and clarity
Develop work plans for assigned project tasks and coordinate with discipline team members
Assist with proposals to provide professional engineering services
Assign tasks to and direct less experienced engineers and designers to complete assignments
Provide mentoring and technical guidance to less experienced staff
Collaborate effectively with cross-disciplinary teams, including structural, electrical, environmental, and project management staff
Perform essential duties, including meeting deliverables and deadlines
Perform additional related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a similar applicable engineering discipline
5+ years of experience in civil engineering design and drafting
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D
Demonstrated ability to independently apply engineering principles and solve complex problems
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification; Professional Engineering (PE) licensure is desirable
Prior experience with utility-scale solar PV or energy storage system projects
Experience preparing grading, drainage, and site access designs for large-scale developments
