Clinician Educator- Assistant Professor of General Internal Medicine - NMVA
CHEManager International is seeking a Clinician Educator for the position of Assistant Professor of General Internal Medicine. The role involves providing direct patient care and working collaboratively within a healthcare team to coordinate medical care for Veterans, while also educating and guiding medical residents.

Responsibilities
Provides direct patient care full time and works as a member of an expanded healthcare team (social worker, dietician, clinical pharmacists, behavioral health clinician, and a care manager) to oversee and coordinate medical care for a population of Veterans in a group practice setting utilizing the PACT model
Performs initial histories and physical examinations on outpatients using CVT technology and/or face-to-face visits
Provides ongoing outpatient care for assigned patients
Screens outpatients to determine the need for further care
Prescribes medications within defined scope of practice
Orders diagnostic studies such as laboratory tests, x-rays, electrocardiogram
Reviews need for and orders health promotion and disease prevention measures
Initiates, responds to and expediates requests for consultations, special tests and studies
Provides education and counseling of patients and families in preventive care, medical conditions, and use of prescribed treatments and drugs
Attends staff meetings, team meetings, some committee meetings, and completes some peer review evaluations
Provides education and guidance to Medical Residents in managing medical care to Veterans in the outpatient setting
Qualification
Required
U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification
Proficiency in spoken and written English
