Responsibilities
Oversee and review monthly close activities across assigned Markets, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
Manage, mentor, and develop a team of corporate accountants (initially two direct reports)
Coordinate with Market teams, controllers, and corporate leadership to support accounting needs, resolve issues, and enhance processes
Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
Act as a liaison between the Market and SRP Corporate Accounting team
Review financial statement packages to ensure accuracy and consistency of report presentation
Review accruals, journals, balance sheet reconciliations, and other key close deliverables
Support implementation and refinement of accounting processes and systems (Workday)
Participate in special projects, process improvements, and cross-functional initiatives
Collaborate closely with the Controller to support strategic accounting operations for the Markets
Develop and facilitate training for the accountants for real estate specific accounting processes, variance analysis review, budget review, operating expense reconciliation review, and accounting software
Research accounting issues, identify possible solutions, and summarize conclusions to present to management
Coordinate Market requests on an as needed basis
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
5 years of full-cycle accounting experience
Strong understanding of GAAP
Proficiency in MS Excel required
Exemplary written and verbal communication skills
Ability to communicate with partners and internal/external customers
High attention to detail and ability to work with a large amount of financial data
Able to exhibit a high level of confidentiality
Preferred
CPA or public accounting experience preferred
Experience leading a team of accountants in preparing timely financial statements
Commercial real estate or multi-entity accounting experience is a plus
Yardi or Workday accounting software experience is a plus
