Mechanical Designer

PROENERGY is a global energy transition platform focused on fast-start, dispatchable power. The Mechanical Designer will be responsible for designing and routing piping systems, modeling equipment, and contributing to the creation of guidelines and procedures in collaboration with the EPC team.

Responsibilities

Design and route piping systems, layouts or model 3D equipment items for power plant systems including simple cycle gas balance of plant systems
Plan and develop drawings for production work including problem analysis, design layout and calculations
Understand and develop the capability of quality checking in the 3D models for interferences and constructability optimizations
Resolve comments on checked drawings; understand and implement the comments made
Complete as-builts by utilizing RFIs, ECNs and red-marked drawings from construction to develop 'Conformed to Construction Records' as required
Seek ways to improve customer satisfaction, the quality of the work product, and operating efficiencies
Help develop, review, and implement guidelines and procedures to ensure design standardization and templating of our PowerFLX work
Stay up to date with the latest technology and industry practices and find practical applications
Interpret and incorporate design codes and specifications related to design requirements
Check design for consistency, safety, operability, quality and maintenance requirements before submitting to checking
Basic understanding of piping layouts and field drawings

Required

Associate degree in drafting technology, design or related fields or High School Diploma with Relevant coursework/experience
Two (2) years of experience in related work experience
Ability to utilize both 2D and 3D applications to prepare engineering drawings
Basic understanding of design software such as: E3D, Plant 3D, Smartplant 3D, CADWORX Plant Pro, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Navisworks, Bluebeam, and Excel to develop the design deliverables. Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs
Participates in team environment effectively. Accepts direction from the team. Individually contributes to the success of the team
Supports project teams and departments in a positive and productive manner. Works well with others to accomplish common goals and objectives
Able to manage multiple responsibilities and tasks with set expectations
Independently applies knowledge and ensures compliance with quality program. Establishes related processes and promotes a culture that is conducive to quality. Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts
Comfortable with change and ambiguity; adaptable, collaborative and a systems thinker
Proactively provides guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes
Ability to work collaboratively with others including, but not limited to Project Managers, Engineers, Designers and constructability personnel in a multi-disciplined project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish our goals
Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies
Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required
US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa
Successful candidate will need to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug screen and background check

Preferred

Piping or mechanical modeling Experience in EPC Power Industry
Aconex Document Controls software knowledge
Clear understanding of construction and constructability practices & principles
Working knowledge of technical aspects of the proposal and estimate process
Owner or Client engineering background
