The Substance Use Intern will work with clients facing substance misuse disorders, conducting assessments, providing counseling, and facilitating support groups while adhering to professional standards.

Responsibilities
Performs substance use assessments, collaborates with case managers to identify mutually agreed upon long and short-term substance use related goals and develop a comprehensive service plan
Provides substance use counseling and support services to clients
Facilitates weekly substance use groups including harm reduction and relapse prevention
Performs crisis intervention, assessment, advocacy, referral, and case planning
Participates in weekly supervision with his/her supervisor, team meetings and case reviews
Participate in weekly supervision
Additional assignments may be determined at a future date
Qualification
Required
Applicants must be enrolled in an education and training program that will grant them credit hours for their internship
Applicants must also be CASAC(T) students
Demonstrates cultural sensitivity and competency at all times
Excellent communication skills
