Responsibilities

Installs and maintains special communications or other electronic systems installed on flight test aircraft when such systems are in addition to or deviations from production systems configuration
Is responsible for the construction, adaption, modification, and progressive development of instrumentation prototype research components working independently on assigned task
Requires the application of electronic, electro-mechanical, optical, and similar knowledge in the use of radio, radar, standard time, telemetry and recording as used in the original application of electro-mechanical devices and electronic circuits for ground and airborne instrumentation prototype systems
Performs layout of electronic and electro-mechanical circuits, components and systems which require the application of electronic theory and research techniques
Works from engineering, written or oral instructions
Fabrics various electronic components such as wire wound resistors, coils, audio and I.F. transformers in accordance with specifications and tolerance requirements established by engineering
Tests and adjusts electrical and electronic circuits, servo and electro-mechanical units to design specification or operation by using applicable testing devices
Performs progressive evaluation, determines practical changes necessary to overcome problems and make corrective modifications to circuits or devices to accomplish design intent
Troubleshoots and makes corrections or modifications
Is required to utilize basic electronic instrumentation theory in the functional testing of electronic instrumentation components; determine that components have been properly assembled and that response to controls and operational characteristics conform to specifications prior to their qualitative evaluation tests
Assists in the accumulation, setup, and hookup of portable or bench test equipment from established schematics, blueprints, or sketches connecting all test equipment to components or systems, or systems undergoing qualitative evaluation
Dismantles and disassembles test setups at the completion of tests, salvaging components, and parts for future use
Assists in installing and removing airborne and ground system components of instrumentation data recording, transmitting, receiving, and monitoring systems; assists in correcting malfunctions and discrepancies of systems prior to or after installation
May be required to work at remote test sites on Lockheed/Ft Worth Company sponsored programs
May be required to operate electronic data entry, storage, processing, and/or retrieval equipment as a routine part of accomplishing their normal job assignments
Performs operational check, pre-flight and post-flight evaluation of complete test instrumentation system

Required

Experience with operational check, pre-flight and post-flight evaluation of complete test instrumentation system
Experience with electrical troubleshooting with use of engineering provided schematics
Experience with COMSEC classified materials, encryption units, and applicable security requirements
Experience with active Flight Line operations, policies, and procedures

Preferred

Experience with basic electronic test equipment
Knowledge of and understand instrumentation practices
To use static and dynamic recording and indicating devices, employing direct writing, photographic, optical, mechanical, and visual systems
To understand and use complex circuit diagrams, prints and specifications
Understand and apply knowledge of electronic theory, shop theory, practices, and procedures in evaluating and developing instrumentation systems
To have technical training in the fundamental theory of electrical and electronic principles and instrumentation theory and principles, and a knowledge of shop math including algebra and trigonometry
Knowledge of data processing operations and security requirements applicable during install, removal, transportation, and storage
Experience with encryption units and applicable security requirements
