Responsibilities
Assist with professional engineering projects related to the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Storm Water Management Program
Plan, design, construction management, product evaluation, research & development, system optimization, database management, and Geographical Information System (GIS) mapping
May participate in periodic cross training and supplementary work activities within the division to comply with regulatory obligations
Independently responsible for a number of simple, single component and/or multi-disciplined Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects
Assist higher level engineers with more complex projects and tasks
Contract administration and compliance oversight for various facets of construction projects
Performs routine to moderately complex professional engineering work under general supervision
Assists higher-level engineers with more challenging assignments related to National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits, Underground Injection Control (UIC) permits, water quality monitoring, air permits and other functions of the Monitoring & Compliance Branch
Plans organizes, coordinates and directs all technical and administrative activities of simple projects assigned, including construction of any gravity sewer improvements appurtenances
Assists higher level engineers on the more complex projects and tasks
Qualification
Required
At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment
Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in an engineering specialty
Two year(s) of non-registered professional civil engineering experience
Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license, as required
Knowledge Of: civil engineering principles and practices, Engineering mathematics and mechanics of materials, Topographic surveying principles and practices, Structural, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and sanitary engineering concepts as they apply to civil engineering
Ability To: perform civil engineering design work and supervise construction and inspection activities, analyze stresses and determine the required foundations and structural features, supervise a small group of subordinate employees, prepare engineering and inspection reports
Preferred
A Master's degree in Civil Engineering from a regionally-accredited college or university will substitute for one year of non-registered professional civil engineering experience
