Responsibilities

Assist in the instruction of EL students by
Working with individuals or small groups in the mainstream classroom
Working with individuals or small groups in the EL classroom
Interpreting instructions to students individually or in groups
Scaffolding with the native language when appropriate
Translate school material, both oral and written
May use a computer for translation work
Perform other duties (clerical, supervision, etc.) as assigned
Exhibit cultural competency in working with all students, staff, families etc
Interpreting at school functions, including parent-teacher conferences
Performs such other related responsibilities as may be assigned

Required

Fluency in Swahili or Dari/Farsi
Experience working with English Learner students
Ability to assist in instruction in mainstream and EL classrooms
Skills in translating oral and written communications

Willingness to assist with school functions, including parent-teacher conferences
