Senior Municipal Fleet Technician

NEOGOV is seeking a Senior Municipal Fleet Technician to perform maintenance and repair of the City’s fleet while serving as a working lead within the equipment services shop. This role involves coordinating workflow, providing guidance and training to technicians, and assisting the Fleet Supervisor to ensure efficient fleet operations.

Responsibilities

Performs the duties of a Municipal Fleet Technician
Reviews the needs of the crew, equipment, tools, and facilities with the Fleet Supervisor
Serves as lead worker on assigned shift, with the ability to prioritize work and direct crew and work assignments
Performs quality control inspections and report findings to the Fleet Supervisor of repairs performed by the crew and vendors
Monitors shop safety and addresses issues appropriately
Fleet Maintenance Services: Performs automotive and wide variety of equipment maintenance services, including the repair of engines, transmissions, axles, fuel, electrical and hydraulic components
Assists Fleet Supervisor in recommending needed repairs and inspecting work of sub-contractors
Provides roadside service repairs
Operates all municipal fleet equipment in order to diagnose and verify repairs
Reports for duty in emergency situations
Employee relations: Fosters a productive and collaborative work environment by coordinating work efforts with other City departments and employees
Responds to or refers complaints to the Fleet Supervisor when appropriate
Communicate with other senior staff about work assignments and schedules
Perform related work as required or assigned by the Fleet Manager and Fleet Supervisor

Required

High school diploma or equivalent
Formal course work in heavy equipment, medium/heavy truck, or automotive repair
A minimum of one (1) year of professional experience in mechanic repair
Valid Driver's License and ability to pass the Class A written exams within 30 days of hire, and obtain a valid State of Wisconsin Commercial Driver's license (CDL) Class A with N Endorsement, without restrictions on air brakes within nine (9) months of hire

EVT Certification
Possession of a valid State of Wisconsin Commercial Driver's license (CDL) Class A with N Endorsement, without restrictions on air brakes
