Responsibilities
Facilitating 1-hour outdoor life-skills sessions (public speaking, focus, leadership, teamwork) using nature-based challenges and adventure-style methodologies
Conducting focused, results-driven motivational sessions where you guide students toward achieving academic objectives through adaptive software platforms
Animating curriculum through storytelling, personalized approaches, and dynamic energy that sustains K-12 student engagement at high levels
Implementing safety procedures and outdoor decision-making (route selection, weather monitoring, equipment inspection, Leave No Trace principles) according to Waypoint's established field standards
Evaluating competency development by having students demonstrate practical application of life skills in authentic scenarios
Maintaining rigorous standards of excellence while serving as an approachable, motivating mentor whom students genuinely respect and admire
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in any discipline
At least 3 years of experience engaging with K-12 students in educational settings, camp environments, coaching roles, or outdoor programming
Demonstrated history of exceptional performance (in academic, athletic, or professional contexts)
Strong public speaking capability with the ability to captivate and sustain attention among large student groups in both indoor and outdoor settings
Innate capacity to connect with K-12 learners, understanding their interests and cultural context, functioning as a constructive role model who challenges them toward growth rather than as a peer
Authorization to work legally in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
Commitment to working on-site at Waypoint Academy's Dripping Springs, TX campus (near Austin)
Preferred
First aid or wilderness safety certification
