Marketing Public Relations, MD

State Street is seeking a seasoned executive communications leader to join its Global Public Relations team as Managing Director, Public Relations & Executive Communications for State Street Investment Management (SSIM). This role will lead integrated PR strategies that elevate SSIM’s brand globally, driving proactive storytelling and reputation-building initiatives across earned, owned and shared channels.

Responsibilities

Build and manage comprehensive executive platforms, including messaging frameworks, speeches, op-eds, and presentations for high-stakes engagements
Leverage deep connections with top-tier business, banking, and financial trade publications; proactively pitch complex stories and secure coverage that elevates SSIM’s leadership
Partner with events team to prepare executives for major conferences, client summits, and industry forums; oversee briefing materials and run-of-show
Serve as a trusted advisor during reputational challenges, helping executives prioritize, maintain composure, and communicate clearly under pressure
Collaborate with PR, Marketing, public affairs, and regional teams to ensure consistent messaging
Define KPIs for executive communications and use data-driven insights to refine strategies

Required

Bachelor's degree required
15+ years of experience in communications/public relations with a proven track record of securing top-tier media coverage
Significant experience in asset management and extensive relationships with journalists covering the industry
In-house or agency experience considered
Strong command of traditional, digital, social, and integrated marketing tactics
Exceptional client management and interpersonal skills
Ability to create and manage integrated PR/marketing plans and timelines
A collaborative team player with a can-do attitude
Exceptional storytelling and executive writing skills
Proven PR expertise, managing integrated strategies and media relations programs
Reputation management and crisis communications experience
Ability to influence and build trust with senior stakeholders
Experience preparing and partnering with executives for high-profile events and executive platforms
Strong project management and organizational skills
Creativity, adaptability, and strategic thinking
Familiarity with financial services and investment management topics
