Radio Frequency Engineer

LHH is hiring an RF Engineer for a growing technology organization in Albuquerque to support the development of advanced communication capabilities for airborne systems. This role involves developing and refining RF components, conducting performance assessments, and supporting integration with various systems.

Responsibilities

Develop and refine RF components and subsystems used in airborne communication platforms
Create system‑level RF architectures and contribute to end‑to‑end communication pathway design
Perform modeling, simulations, and performance assessments to guide design decisions
Conduct bench and field evaluations to validate RF behavior, diagnose issues, and implement improvements
Support integration of RF hardware with electrical, avionics, software, and power systems
Prepare technical documentation, test procedures, and engineering reports
Evaluate interference issues and support electromagnetic compatibility solutions
Assist with spectrum‑related compliance activities and communication regulations
Participate in technical reviews and cross‑functional engineering discussions
Collaborate with suppliers, technology partners, and external stakeholders as needed

Qualification

Required

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, or a similar discipline
5+ years of industry experience working with RF systems or communication technologies
Strong foundation in RF concepts such as propagation, modulation methods, filtering, and noise behavior
Experience using RF design and simulation tools (such as HFSS, CST, ADS, MATLAB, or comparable platforms)
Hands‑on experience with RF measurement tools (network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, etc.)
Familiarity with antenna development or antenna‑based system support
Proven ability to troubleshoot RF issues in both lab and real‑world test environments
Clear communication and documentation abilities

Preferred

Master's degree in a related engineering field
Background working with aerospace systems, remote platforms, electric vehicles, or high‑altitude technologies
Knowledge of long‑range, broadband, or specialized wireless communication systems
Understanding of EMI/EMC requirements and associated testing
Experience working within regulated technical environments or with spectrum licensing
Comfort working in fast‑paced, highly collaborative engineering settings
