Deputy General Counsel
General Matter is enriching uranium in America, aiming to restore the country's ability to produce nuclear fuel. The Deputy General Counsel will collaborate with the General Counsel to establish the legal function, manage compliance risks, and support business growth in a heavily regulated industry.

Responsibilities
Working cross-functionally to mitigate compliance risk across the organization while facilitating business objectives and reducing compliance friction
Advising on export-control compliance programs
Designing and managing classified data practices
Negotiating, drafting, and reviewing a wide variety of commercial agreements
Overseeing the buildout of a contracts management function
Working with the General Counsel to manage and scale other legal portfolios as needed
Qualification
Required
J.D degree
9+ years of legal experience (including clerkships)
Substantial experience with export controls, classification, or commercial contracts
Willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed
This position is based in Los Angeles, CA and requires being onsite full-time – hybrid and remote work will not be considered
