Commercial Energy Engineer/Auditor

Clean Energy Districts of Iowa (CEDI) is a not-for-profit corporation focused on local clean energy transitions. They are seeking a Commercial Energy Auditor/Engineer to provide technical assistance to local governments and multi-family housing owners in energy district counties, ensuring effective energy planning and project implementation.

Responsibilities

Core responsibility is to provide Energy Planning technical assistance (inventory, diagnostics, modeling, financial analysis, recommendations, and follow-through) to local governments, schools, and multi-family housing owners in energy district counties
The position will provide direct assistance to customers, and also provide support for two Commercial Energy Auditors/Planners (ideally Certified Energy Managers, or similar), when additional expertise is required in analysis or presentation with their customers
Energy Planning is inclusive of the full range of facility energy efficiency and electrification measures , applicable renewable energy measures including solar and geothermal, and transportation electrification measures
Ensure customers and projects are tracked in the CEDI web-based toolkit/CRM , including project implementation and impact
Report to EECBG Program Manager , and indirectly to the CEDI Executive Director
Support the Program Manager in outreach, marketing, and reporting activities
Support the Program Manager and CEDI Communications Lead in developing success stories/case studies of customers served by program technical assistance
Significant travel is required throughout the territory of the Clean Energy Districts of Iowa (largely eastern/northeastern Iowa); a personal vehicle for year-round use will be required, and mileage will be reimbursed based on the federal mileage rate

Required

Valid drivers license and willingness to travel to customer locations

Preferred

An engineering degree (ideally mechanical or electrical), and certification/s in energy technical assistance, ideally Certified Energy Manager (and/or other certification/s from the Association of Energy Engineers)
At least two and preferably five years of commercial energy auditing/analysis/planning experience, including local government, schools, and/or multi-family housing
Applicants should understand and support CEDI's mission of locally-led, locally-owned clean energy transition, and preferred, have local knowledge of project area
Knowledge of HVAC equipment and technology, commercial construction, green building design, energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies
Experience with energy modeling software, energy load profile analysis, benchmarking, and energy savings and financial calculations
Strong knowledge of energy codes, standards, and regulations
Strong competence with IT systems, including Google, Microsoft, Adobe
Strong skills in interpersonal communication and customer service
Skilled in time management and in working independently
