Mechanical Engineer
Atlas Connections is a developer of large-scale data centers focused on AI and high-performance computing customers. They are seeking an experienced Data Center Mechanical Engineer responsible for the design, implementation, and operation of high-reliability mechanical infrastructure supporting AI and GPU-dense data centers.
Responsibilities
Mechanical Engineering Design, review, and evaluate mechanical systems for data centers, including chillers, heat exchangers, pumps, CRAH units, and coolant distribution units
Coordinate with electrical, architectural, and IT teams to align mechanical systems with overall facility requirements
Define design parameters and ensure alignment with project scope and performance goals
Perform engineering studies such as cooling load analysis and energy-use calculations
Develop standards, playbooks, and best practices for consistent deployment of mechanical and plumbing systems
Support design development phases from Owner Project Requirements through construction documentation and permitting
Documentation & Design Support Maintain accurate design documentation and as-built drawings
Support Basis of Design development and design review meetings
Prepare specifications and technical documentation for HVAC, plumbing, and fire suppression systems in mission-critical facilities
Utilize tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM for design coordination
Construction & Vendor Coordination Review bids, submittals, shop drawings, and respond to construction-related inquiries
Coordinate with contractors and vendors throughout construction
Commissioning Support commissioning activities and verify system performance. Witness factory and site acceptance testing to ensure systems meet design intent
Qualification
Required
7+ years of mechanical engineering experience, including at least 3 years in data center or large-scale commercial construction projects
Strong background in construction project management, document control, and change management processes
Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders
Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-reliability environments
Willingness to travel 25–50% within the U.S
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field required
Preferred
Master's degree preferred but not required
Professional certifications such as PE, PMP, or LEED accreditation are highly valued
Experience with AI and GPU-dense data centers
Familiarity with advanced mechanical systems and technologies
