Monitor Tech/Unit Secretary – 5 South Med/Surg Telemetry - Full Time 12 Hour Night Shift (Fixed Term)(Union)
University of Southern California is seeking a Monitor Tech/Unit Secretary for their 5 South Med/Surg Telemetry unit. The role involves performing clerical tasks, monitoring patients for arrhythmias, and coordinating patient care activities.

Responsibilities
The Unit Secretary/Monitor Technician performs clerical, and communication functions on assigned nursing unit
S/he monitors patients for arrhythmias and alerts proper personnel as needed
She/he provides courteous reception on the nursing unit and coordinates activities for patient care
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience
Completion of a EKG or Rhythm interpretation course
Minimum of one (1) year current experience as a Unit Secretary and Monitor Tech in an acute care preferred
Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
Knowledge of medical terminology
Data entry computer skills
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) card from the American Heart Association
ED/Geropsych: AB 508 Certification (if no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire
EKG course required. Successful candidate must pass rhythm recognition exam
