Administrative Assistant
The City of Fort Worth is one of the fastest growing large cities in the U.S. and is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to support Fire Administration within the Purchasing Unit. This role involves assisting with purchasing and administrative functions essential to the department’s mission and daily operations.

Responsibilities
Evaluate the quality and price of products to determine the suitability of good and alternative offered
Prepares specifications for bids
Assist with basic contract drafting and related documentation
Ability to identify cooperative agreements and research alternative purchasing options
Receive, review, and create requisitions and issue purchase orders
Track and review purchases to confirm accurate and timely vendor payments
Serves as backup for various staff positions in their absence
Contribute to special projects as assigned
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Associates degree from an accredited college with major course work in Business Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field
Four (4) years of clerical and administrative experience
Preferred
Four (4) years of purchasing duties and knowledge of municipal purchasing policies and procedures
Principles and practices of finance and accounting
Purchasing practices and procedures, including the techniques of specification writing
Experience working in a highly paced environment with competing deadlines
Methods and techniques of conducting research
Basic principles of contractual agreement law
