Engineering CAD Design Technician

Stevens Industries, Inc. is a world-class manufacturer of wood and laminated products, looking for a first shift Engineering CAD Design Technician. The role involves improving quality and efficiency, automating systems, and modifying designs using Microvellum and CAD to support production processes.

Responsibilities

Automate systems in use for the group to reduce overtime and increase performance
Communicate with project manager and production about what needs answered or clarified to be able to finish the job
Read blueprints and elevational views to come up with the best solution to produce as close to architecturals as possible and still maintain standards, cost, safety, form and function
Modify and design standard and custom casework products using Microvellum program which relies heavily on excel driven formulas
Develop routing data to direct parts through production. Set up route lines on specific layers to facilitate creation of machine code
Run queries over multiple jobs in Microsoft Access to find anomalies and fix errors
Provide support and solutions to production floor with a timely and pleasant delivery to assure minimal impact to production lines
Develop and research hardware used in standard and custom products and create detail drawings for manufacture
Be prepared to work on several jobs at a time, work under pressure to meet deadlines, but still maintain quality, accuracy, professional attitude, and motivation

Required

Transforms initial rough product designs using Microvellum and CAD into production data and machine code
Reviews engineering drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards. Updates standards
Familiar with a variety of the field concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan, solve problems and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks
High degree of design creativity, latitude, and motivation is expected
Use CAD equipment, such as Microvellum programs to provide support to production by preparing custom and standard layouts, detail drawings, and diagrams
Draws details to include all views and dimensions necessary for manufacturing. Solid understanding of drafting techniques and familiarity with engineering terminology and mechanical logic
Require an Associate's degree in a related field or at least 4 years of experience in related areas such as construction and architectural design
