Payroll Manager
The Judge Group is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee and manage end-to-end payroll operations for the organization. This role involves ensuring accurate and compliant payroll processing while collaborating with various teams to maintain strong internal controls.

Responsibilities
Manage the full-cycle payroll process for salaried and hourly employees across multiple states and/or countries
Ensure payroll accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Oversee payroll tax filings, remittances, reconciliations, and year-end reporting (W-2s, 1099s, etc.)
Maintain and strengthen payroll controls in accordance with SOX and internal audit standards
Partner with Finance, HR, Legal, and Compliance teams to ensure alignment with policies and regulations
Manage payroll audits (internal and external) and respond to audit inquiries
Administer payroll-related systems, upgrades, integrations, and process improvements
Handle complex payroll matters such as bonuses, commissions, equity, retro pay, and terminations
Lead, mentor, and develop payroll staff (if applicable)
Serve as subject matter expert for payroll compliance and best practices
Ensure confidentiality and security of payroll data at all times
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including payroll management or leadership
Strong knowledge of payroll tax laws, wage & hour regulations, and multi-state payroll
Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, Paychex, UKG, or similar
Advanced Excel skills and strong reconciliation experience
High attention to detail with strong problem-solving and organizational skills
Preferred
Experience in financial services, banking, or regulated environments
Experience supporting SOX controls and audit requirements
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or equivalent certification
Experience with large, complex payrolls (1,000+ employees)
Experience with equity, incentive compensation, or commission-heavy payrolls
