This role involves leading full-cycle recruiting for advanced technical roles, particularly focusing on research-heavy and PhD-level talent, while partnering closely with founders and technical leaders to shape hiring strategies.

Responsibilities
Leading full-cycle recruiting across engineering and research roles
Conducting market mapping for highly specialized and emerging technical skill sets
Identifying and engaging talent from PhD programs, research labs, and academic institutions
Sourcing and hiring candidates with backgrounds such as PhD, postdoc, and research scientist
Translating academic and research experience into industry-relevant hiring signals
Building long-term pipelines for niche and hard-to-find talent
Partnering with hiring managers to define role requirements, interview processes, and sourcing strategies
Delivering a thoughtful, high-touch candidate experience from first outreach through offer
Qualification
Required
5+ years of experience in research-led, technical recruiting, ideally in startup or high-growth environments - unfortunately we cannot consider applicants without this type of recruiting experience
Strong understanding of academic hiring landscapes, including PhD, postdoc, and research scientist pathways
Comfort working with ambiguity and evolving role definitions
Excellent sourcing, outreach, and stakeholder management skills
Background in talent intelligence, talent research, or university / graduate recruiting
Based in the Bay Area and able to work on-site
