Responsibilities
Obtain and analyze group benefit program proposals for both clients and prospects
Analyze bids for group health and welfare coverage for clients
Provide benchmarking research and analysis
Develop detailed client reports
Provide substantial financial analysis for 8-12 clients on average
Work independently with very limited direction
Demonstrate a high level of accuracy and proactively develop/improve departmental work product
Have group underwriting experience projecting benefits costs, analyzing proposals and evaluating self-funded benefits
Construct flow pages and executive summaries for the Vice President
Take ownership of the projects they are working on
Be proactive in the development of work and make day-to-day decisions without guidance
Recommend the best alternative for the client to the Vice President
Qualification
Required
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and writing skills
Able to follow directions, be detailed, organized and resourceful
Ability to work under extreme pressure (tight deadlines & juggling many projects)
Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in finance, mathematics or other related area preferred
Minimum of 5-7 years' experience in the healthcare benefits industry working for a group, insurance carrier, broker or general agency preferred
Knowledge of group insurance (medical, dental, vision & life and disability products) preferred
