Tooling Technician IV

Responsibilities
Manage mould PM schedule
Responsible for achieving and tracking On Time Completion % PM metric
Track and audit spare parts inventory
Order spare parts based on immediate needs and inventory needs
Execute short- and long-term projects assigned by management
Disassemble and reassemble Hot Runner, valve gate, and mould systems
PM Hot Runner systems
Inspect Hot Runner systems for damage and/or malfunction
Understand and rebuild valve gate systems
Diagnose heating issues on Hot Runner systems
Read and interpret electrical diagrams for Hot Runner systems
Ability to diagnose and repair mould defects
Diagnose or determine if part defect is mould or process related
The ability to create SOC’s for new and existing tooling if SOC’s are not available
Show an in-depth knowledge of advanced process troubleshooting to correct part/quality defects
The ability to troubleshoot, repair valve gate, hot runner, and hot runner controller issues
Ability to run an FAT at toolmaker
Work with tooling vendors to complete refurbishments, upgrades, or repairs to moulds
Determine process parameters for new or altered moulds
Train Level 1, 2 and 3 mould and tooling techs
Identify what controls the moulded part properties
Show and understanding of moulded parts strand orientation and how it affects strength
Any other duties as assignedVerify that the appropriate SOC is posted at each machine for the tool currently in the machine
Molding Department
Completion of Paulson Training, Practical Injection Molding Basic section with an 80% or higher grade
Must be able to demonstrate and show an understanding of the Paulson PIM Basic training skills in a production environment
Proper identification of the different parts and types of injection molding machines and how they work
Proper identification of the parts of an injection mold and how they work
Identify how different conditions affect the molding process
Any other duties assigned by management
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED
5 to 10+ years of injection tooling experience required
Ability to maintain good, positive, cordial working relationships with all personnel
Ability to work with others in a way that elicits their cooperation and support
Ability to read and interpret technical documents and information
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions
Ability to deal with problems involving a few variables in standardized situations
Basic computer skills required
Knowledge of quality control procedures, good manufacturing practices and team development
Good organizational skills
