Assistant Director of Specialized Day Services

The Assistant Director of Specialized Day Services is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and evaluation of therapeutic programming while ensuring quality assurance and compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

Provide department-level leadership for the design, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of therapeutic programming across all SDS locations
Create, implement, and manage special projects as assigned by the Director of Specialized Day Services, including program administration and development of identified opportunities
Exercise independent judgment to identify risks, trends, and opportunities for improvement; recommend programmatic and operational changes to senior leadership
Develop, implement, and monitor standardized clinical protocols, quality benchmarks, and measurable outcomes across programs
Oversee Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement activities to maintain compliance with Joint Commission standards and requirements of funding and monitoring entities (DOEA, United Way, FAA, ADI, foundations, etc.)
Lead and facilitate regularly scheduled department meetings to ensure effective communication, policy implementation, and alignment with organizational goals
Provide feedback during the annual review process and make recommendations related to hiring, performance evaluations, corrective action, and termination in accordance with organizational policies and the employee handbook
Conduct site visits and audits of day centers to ensure regulatory compliance
Complete monthly chart audits
Assist with long-range planning activities and recommend improvements to policies and procedures
Participate in meetings with staff, caregivers, family members, and others regarding patient care and services as needed
Enter and maintain accurate information in multiple database systems
Participate in organizational planning, program expansion initiatives, and grant-related activities in collaboration with executive leadership and external partners
In rare and unforeseen emergency situations, provide limited clinical support to ensure continuity of services (incidental and not a regular function)
Manage team email communications related to intake and coordination with other departments
May require work beyond scheduled hours as needed

Qualification

Required

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ECW and Outlook; ability to operate standard office equipment
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and accountability for outcomes affecting multiple programs and locations
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Highly organized, self-directed, and detail-oriented
Strong multitasking skills with the ability to perform under pressure
Ability to troubleshoot issues and ensure timely follow-up
Graduate of a diploma, associate, or baccalaureate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program
Active, clear Florida LPN license with no restrictions; must be maintained throughout employment
Ability and willingness to travel approximately 40% of the time
Valid driver's license, current automobile insurance, and reliable transportation
Ability to work in excess of scheduled hours as deadlines require
Must be AHCA/DOEA eligible
Must be free of communicable diseases and comply with required physical exams and TB testing
Must pass a Florida Care Provider Background Screening

Preferred

Graduate of a diploma, associate, or baccalaureate Registered Nurse (RN) program
Active, clear Florida RN license with no restrictions; must be maintained throughout employment
