Responsibilities

Drive advancements in aerospace power and propulsion technologies, championing cutting-edge solutions that align with strategic objectives
With vision, shape competitive roadmaps, define technical strategies, and champion major technology programs in areas of strategic pursuit for GE Aerospace and its customers
Collaborate with diverse teams and leverage your extensive network to tackle complex technical challenges and deliver solutions for future power and propulsion systems
Promote collaboration across the GE Aerospace enterprise to align activities with system-level solutions that benefit GE Aerospace and our customers
Coach and mentor a talented team, fostering growth, development, and innovation within the organization
Drive cross-organizational priority conceptualizing and shaping vital technology development strategies for our industry, building partnerships with recognized subject matter experts across academia and the U.S. National Laboratories, and contributing to coordinated efforts to influence federally funded science and technology priorities
Partnering with the DTF community and Technology Directors, drive connectivity across diverse technologists and multiple technologies to shape generational plans and roadmaps for visionary solutions
Provide oversight of technical direction across multiple technology areas ensuring alignment with business goals, stakeholder expectations, and customer needs
Council and mentor researchers and act as champion for the Technical Career Path
Serve as a world class technical resource for the organization on complex critical issues in power and propulsion
Exemplify and champion the GE Purpose and GE Leadership Behaviors – Respect for People, Continuous Improvement, and Customer Focus

Qualification

Required

Master's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or related field with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience, or bachelor's degree with a minimum of 20 years of relevant experience
Fundamental understanding of power and propulsion as a system and domain knowledge in one or more relevant aerospace disciplines
Proven success in guiding interdisciplinary teams to develop novel breakthrough technologies
Demonstrated ability to champion and shape the strategic direction, define the tactical programs, and ensure the execution of roadmaps
Familiarity with aerospace industry trends, customer needs, and competitive technologies in power and propulsion
Ability to make decisions with confidence when problems or solutions are not well-defined
Excellent communication and presentation skills at all levels of the organization
This position requires U.S. citizenship status
Willingness to obtain active US Government Secret Clearance with ability to attain a Top-Secret Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship
Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY
Must be 18 years or older

Preferred

Doctorate degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or related fields with 15+ years of relevant professional experience in a research environment
Subject matter expertise in one or more propulsion technologies including gas turbine engines, jet propulsion, or other relevant aerospace propulsion technologies
Led a module or complete product development effort, including design, build, and test
Familiarity with industry and military regulatory standards
