Responsibilities

Review sales, use and telecommunications tax data received on a monthly basis from KPMG compliance clients to determine if it is in the proper format for input into KPMGs mechanized tax processing systems
Arrange the monthly data received into the proper tax location codes, tax types, tax categories, authority levels, taxpayer entities and tax amounts
Apply client specific business rules to the tax data received from tax compliance clients to modify the data for input into KPMG mechanized tax processing systems
Once the data is ready for input, process the data for the returns using one or more of KPMGs mechanized tax systems
Identify, document and recommend client technological business requirements for sales, use and telecommunications tax compliance processes and system improvements
Design, test and troubleshoot indirect tax technology solutions developed using Microsoft Access, Excel, or SQL Server
Build capabilities in key technologies that enable tax professionals for client service delivery such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, Power BI, and more

Required

Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing the following degrees/majors: Bachelors and/or Masters in business, accounting, management information systems, or equivalent program
Upon completion of this internship, candidates must have additional academic credits to complete before obtaining their degree and/or CPA eligibility requirements
Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above
Development knowledge using Visual Basic for Applications in Microsoft Access required and experience developing in .NET is preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Alteryx, Access, SQL Server, XML, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, or process mapping software
Basic tax or accounting knowledge
Ability to learn and navigate technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx and Power BI
Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office for this position and be able to travel to reasonably commutable work locations using own means of transportation, such as a personal vehicle or public transportation
Ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed, at times with relatively short notice
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future.
