Commissioning Technician - NETA

DEPCOM Power, a Koch Industries company, is looking for a Commissioning Technician to support solar plant projects. The role involves hands-on equipment testing, commissioning of substation equipment, and assisting the SCADA team to ensure a smooth commissioning process.

Responsibilities

Perform commissioning and testing of substation and interconnect equipment
Support SCADA team with system integration and troubleshooting
Maintain accurate logs, checklists, and LOTO documentation
Lead or assist in startup and energization of electrical systems
Train subcontractors and vendors on safety protocols (e.g., LOTO, Energized Zone)
Troubleshoot and resolve field issues, including method of procedure development
Participate in daily/weekly progress meetings and maintain project documentation
Manage small projects independently and lead field service teams on larger efforts
Deliver timely service reports and communicate equipment performance insights
Demonstrate and apply Koch’s Guiding Principles in all work activities

Required

Willing and able to travel up to 80% and work weekends/holidays as needed
Valid driver's license
High school diploma or higher with a minimum of 3 years of experience testing, troubleshooting, evaluating, and servicing electrical distribution and control systems, or in lieu of HS diploma or GED, completion of accredited trade school and/or program completion with 7 or more years of experience evaluating and servicing electrical distribution or control systems
Experience in testing, troubleshooting, evaluating, and servicing electrical distribution and control systems
Experience performing power quality measurements, troubleshooting, analysis as well as protective relays
NICET/NETA certification

Preferred

Experience with SCADA infrastructure
OSHA 30 and/or NFPA 70.E certification
NETA 3 or 4 certification
Ability to read and interpret schematics
Understanding of prerequisite testing required prior and post startup of PV power plants such as ground testing, insulation resistance, VLF, Power Factor, breaker timing, relay programming and testing
Experience in managing and directing a team
