Required

Under the direction of the Program and Project Supervisor, the Energy Efficiency & Building Standards Software Specialist independently performs advanced technical and analytical work supporting the development, enhancement, and maintenance of the California Building Energy Code Compliance (CBECC) software and related tools, including compliance forms
The Building Standards Branch is responsible for developing and maintaining California's mandatory Energy Code (Title 24, Part 6), along with the CBECC software and supporting tools that enable statewide compliance
In this role, you will also represent the Efficiency Division and the California Energy Commission before state, federal, and local agencies, as well as professional, governmental, and industry organizations that influence California's energy policies
You will serve as a subject-matter resource on policy, technology, market, and strategic issues, and play a key role in collaboration and coordination with public agencies, stakeholders, and the public

Preferred

Knowledge of energy efficiency, building decarbonization, and related technical or policy issues, including state, national, and local energy policies
Extensive experience with whole-building energy simulation programs and California Building Energy Code Compliance (CBECC) software for single-family, nonresidential, and multifamily buildings
Expert knowledge of building systems and the ability to evaluate emerging technologies for inclusion in the Energy Code
Experience leading or coordinating multidisciplinary teams across agencies and contractors
Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate alternatives and make informed recommendations
Demonstrated ability to draft, review, analyze, and summarize complex technical information for both technical and non-technical audiences
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and oral communication skills
Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and ensuring procedural compliance
