Scientist 1/Scientist 2, Advanced Technologies
Personalis is a genome-scale diagnostics company with a mission to pioneer genome guided medicine. The role of Scientist 1 or Scientist 2 involves leveraging expertise in molecular biology and NGS workflows to develop protocols, optimize methods, and contribute to genomics-based precision medicine products in immuno-oncology and cancer clinical trials.

Responsibilities
Apply advanced molecular biology techniques to develop and perform feasibility experiments to support early research and new product development
Design, execute and document development, equivalency, verification and validation studies
Stay current with the latest developments in NGS and molecular diagnostics, proactively determining which technologies can be leveraged to enhance and expand Personalis’ product portfolio
Identify problems in current processes and come up with troubleshooting approaches and solutions
Work cross functionally with the bioinformatics teams to plan experiments and analysis to validate novel procedures and analytics
Collaborate with the Product Development, Tech Transfer and Automation teams for the development and implementation of new products
Communicate complex data in a clear and concise manner to a diverse audience
Foster a highly collaborative and dynamic working environment through effective, two-way communication
Support documentation efforts for laboratory procedures
Support and ensure compliance with all department and company policies and procedures
Qualification
Required
PhD with 0-2 years of experience or MS with a minimum of 6 years of experience or BS with a minimum of 8 years of experience for Scientist 1
PhD with a minimal 2+ years of experience or MS with a minimum of 8 years of experience or BS with a minimum of 10 years of experience for Scientist 2
Hands-on experience with NGS and DNA/RNA manipulations including extractions, library preparations, purifications, quantifications (Qubit and Nanodrop), PCR/qPCR/ddPCR, electrophoretic QC (Bioanalyzer and Tapestation), enzymatic assays
Basic NGS data analysis knowledge and familiar using tools for data visualization
Passion for exploring new technologies and thinking creatively to solve problems
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational skills, with a proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues
Flexibility, multitasking, teamwork and self-initiative are required to support simultaneous projects
Strong desire to work in a demanding, high-energy, hands-on startup environment
Preferred
Experience in biotech, clinical labs, lab automation, LIMS and/or bioinformatics is highly desired
