Responsibilities

Perform moderate to highly complex clinical laboratory testing independently and in compliance with required procedures
Prepare reagents, media, standards, controls, and stock solutions; evaluate new reagents and controls using established criteria
Assess specimen acceptability according to testing requirements
Calculate, review, and accurately enter test results using manual or computerized systems while maintaining required turnaround times
Review and evaluate routine and complex test results prior to release; recognize and respond to critical, unusual, or unexpected results and document actions taken
Perform preventive maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and performance verification of laboratory instruments
Conduct quality control, calibration, linearity, accuracy, and precision checks; evaluate results and initiate corrective actions when necessary
Perform and document proficiency testing accurately
Track, label, and manage reagents and supplies; maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
Communicate effectively with staff, supervisors, vendors, and internal/external customers
Participate in staff meetings, quality improvement activities, and assigned projects
Assist with training and supervision of unlicensed staff as needed
Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and compliance with safety, environmental, and infection control policies
Maintain continuing education requirements for California state licensure
Answer phones and handle messages as needed
Perform other duties as assigned

Qualification

California CLS licenseBachelor’s degree in medical technologyClinical laboratory testingQuality controlMicrosoft Office proficiencyTyping skills

Required

0–3 years of direct laboratory experience (offer rate based on years of experience)
Ability to lift and carry 1–10 lbs frequently, 11–25 lbs occasionally, and up to 50 lbs with assistance
Ability to perform repetitive tasks, fine manipulation, and stand or sit for extended periods
Good hand-eye coordination required
Color vision testing required for roles involving color-dependent analysis
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Bachelor's degree in medical technology or a related life/physical science (required)
Current California CLS license (required)

Preferred

Strong typing skills preferred
Automation experience a plus
