Responsibilities

Draft and edit legal documents such as petitions, applications, testimony, discovery, orders, settlement agreements, cover letters and other regulatory-related documents in an accurate, complete, and timely manner
Make required filings with the Commission using e-filing system and in person, when necessary
Oversee, review, proofread, cite and quality check regulatory pleadings and exhibits
Conduct legal research, review applicable legal principles and precedent, and draft memoranda, charts, or other documents with attention to detail using research software (i.e., Lexis Advanced), internal document repositories, and internet searches
Track and manage regulatory dockets to track regulatory requirements and procedural deadlines and ensure timely response
Track and manage long-term Regulatory filing requirements
Prepare summaries of filed comments and pleadings and assist in writing memoranda and comments
Investigate facts and gather documents from internal electronic media, and thorough inquiries of various departments throughout the company; organize and coordinate information that has been gathered; draft summaries
Assist with preparing witnesses for hearing testimony; interview witnesses to gather information; prepare exhibits and witness preparation materials; Assist outside counsel or consultants supporting regulatory matters as needed
Develop and maintain SharePoint, including SharePoint Workflows, and SFTP sites, Datasite or other electronic media, as needed
Interact and assist with external attorneys, administrative agencies, members of management, in-house attorneys, clients, and other team members in a respectful and professional manner
Initiate and complete assigned projects as instructed and with a sense of urgency; and
Assist attorneys with other related assignments

Required

Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate
In lieu of bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate, high school diploma/GED AND seven (7) years minimum of experience with an in-house legal department or law firm AND in the process of obtaining a bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate within a reasonable amount of time (must be completed by 2 years of hire)

Preferred

Demonstrated working knowledge of computer applications, specifically Microsoft office products such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint and Adobe Pro
Experience with drafting legal documents
Experience in conducting legal research and in using web-based research tools
Experience with a state regulatory commission or similar type governmental agency or body
Paralegal certificate
At least 7 years related experience as a paralegal in a law firm, corporate legal department or governmental agency in regulatory or litigation practice group
Familiarity with applicable state and federal rules, particularly relating to regulatory agency, federal and/or state law
Regulated industry or utility experience
Familiar with Lexis Advanced legal research tools, including specific regulatory research tools
Demonstrated clear, concise, and effective written and oral communications skills, including an emphasis on grammar and formatting
Ability to appropriately handle highly confidential and proprietary information
Attention to detail, accuracy, adaptability, and flexibility in handling multiple tasks, often under time constraints while taking direction from regulatory attorneys and clients
Demonstrated ability to independently prioritize, organize, and coordinate work while being proactive, taking initiative, and exhibiting sound judgment
Demonstrated problem solving, decision making and analytical skills
Holds oneself accountable for complete, accurate, and timely work results, both independently and as part of a team
Exercises professional judgment, integrity, respect, and professionalism
