Account Specialist - Columbia, South Carolina

BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina is seeking an Account Specialist to support the sale, implementation, and maintenance of National Accounts. The role involves producing reports, coordinating system access, and maintaining customer relationships through effective communication and issue resolution.

Responsibilities

Produces and distributes standard reports at varying frequencies on utilization, clinical, high dollar forecast/notifications, billing and purchased products to external parties. Facilitates additional ad hoc reporting requests as needed
Coordinates dotRs which address routine issues, including benefits, claims, membership, billing, and reporting, and stop loss, coordinating with the appropriate internal resource, whether that be a SME or the group’s assigned Account Advocate, as directed by Account Executive or Client Relationship Manager
Coordinates system access (MHTK, Blue e-Bill, Blue DataConnect, etc.) for groups, brokers and Partner Plan Reps and facilitates copies of member ID cards as needed
Provide support as needed to the department

Required

Bachelor's degree
4 years job related work experience or Associate's degree and 2 years job related work experience
2 years experience in marketing, sales, account management, or health benefits operations
Good judgment skills
Effective customer service skills
Organizational skills
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated proficiency in attention to details, spelling, punctuation, and grammar skills
Ability to handle confidential or sensitive information with discretion

Preferred

Possess knowledge of claims, customer service or membership operations
Understands internal departmental functions and their impact on National Accounts
Demonstrate exceptional customer service, communication, problem solving skills
Strong process-oriented thinking and good analytical and reporting capability
Adept in project management and capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously
Demonstrates commitment to delivering high quality work with minimal supervision
