GetWhys is a VC-backed SaaS company that builds AI-powered customer research and messaging tools for product marketers. They are seeking a Backend Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain backend services that power their core application and support product features.

Responsibilities

Design, build and maintain backend services that power GetWhys’ core application
You’ll own APIs, data models, and services that support product features and internal tooling
Work with structured and unstructured data, including pipelines that support analytics and AI workflows
Improve reliability, performance and observability of production systems
Help evolve our backend architecture as usage and data volume grows

Required

2+ years of experience as a backend or platform-focused software engineer
Strong experience designing and maintain backend services in production
Comfortable working with databases, data modeling and APIs
Familiarity with RAG concepts (embeddings, retrieval strategies, evaluation) is a plus
Experience supporting AI workflows is a plus
Experience building or prototyping LLM-powered workflows using foundation models such as OpenAi, Gemini, Anthropic or Deepseek is a plus
Startup experience, especially having helped build a product from scratch or early stages is a plus
