Benefits Manager
Advantage Technical is seeking a Benefits Manager to lead the strategy, design, and administration of their employee benefits programs. This role involves managing all aspects of benefits administration, ensuring compliance with regulations, and optimizing vendor partnerships to enhance employee experiences.
Responsibilities
Manage all employee benefit programs end‑to‑end with accuracy, timeliness, and minimal oversight
Serve as the primary subject matter expert and escalation point for all benefits‑related issues
Lead open enrollment strategy, communications, vendor coordination, and system configuration
Oversee carrier file management and ensure seamless employee experience
Maintain compliance with federal/state regulations (ACA, ERISA, COBRA, DOL requirements)
Manage required filings, including Form 5500s, and oversee COBRA administration
Maintain accurate benefit documentation and summary distributions
Partner with HRIS vendors, IT, and carriers to implement plan changes and automate processes
Conduct system audits to ensure data accuracy
Manage vendor relationships, monitor performance, and reconcile benefit invoices
Support 401(k) governance, committee activities, and annual filings
Oversee ancillary programs such as tuition reimbursement, service awards, and wellness initiatives
Collaborate with brokers to design and optimize competitive benefits programs
Evaluate benefits data, costs, and market trends to recommend improvements
Develop clear, engaging employee communications, training, and policy materials
Supervise benefits staff with a collaborative, results‑oriented approach
Continuously improve benefits processes, metrics, and internal controls
Apply strong business and legal knowledge to guide benefits strategy
Partner with leaders across the organization to ensure consistency, compliance, and alignment
Qualification
Required
5+ years of experience managing benefits programs (8+ preferred)
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Experience designing and managing domestic and global benefits programs, including:
Self‑insured and ICHRA medical plans
Dental, vision, disability
401(k) and wellness programs
Strong financial and analytical skills; actuarial experience is a plus
Advanced knowledge of ACA, ERISA, COBRA, DOL regulations, and tax laws
Expertise in benefits administration and current market trends
Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel
HRIS benefits administration experience (Paycom preferred)
Strong communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills
Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment
High level of discretion and professionalism with confidential information
