PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNTANT SPECIALIST

The Florida Department of Corrections is responsible for managing the state's correctional facilities and ensuring the responsible management of financial resources. The Professional Accountant Specialist will conduct vendor payment audits, train new staff, and assist with compliance monitoring and data analysis.

Responsibilities

Vendor Payment Audits: Conduct monthly post audits on vendor payments, including AOD, Works, STMS, Contracts, and FLAIR invoices
Staff Training: Train new staff in the Bureau of Finance and Accounting
PALM Training Coordination: Coordinate with Florida Palm liaisons to create and conduct PALM trainings and job aids. Will also be responsible for conducting internal PALM trainings
Audit Inquiries: Assist in responding to post audit and duplicate payment inquiries from the Florida Department of Financial Services
Procedure Management: Help manage and update the bureau’s procedures in collaboration with various units
Project Assistance: Support agency-designated projects as directed by supervisors
Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze data and create management reports for review and audit purposes
Compliance Monitoring: Create and manage compliance dashboards, and monitor and post payment compliance reports

Required

Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent AND possess four (4) years of experience in accounting, auditing, or finance
OR Must possess three (3) years of postsecondary education AND one year of experience in accounting, auditing, or finance
The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes
The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) only hires U.S. citizens and those authorized to work in the U.S
FDC uses E-Verify to confirm an employee's eligibility to work after completing the I-9 form
The Florida Department of Corrections does not currently support H-1B Visa Sponsorship

Preferred

Preference will be given to applicants with accounts payable/disbursement and MFMP experience
