Electrophysics Engineer (Lead or Senior)
The Boeing Company is seeking a Senior Electrophysics Engineer to join their Space Digital Products & Electronics team in El Segundo, CA. The role involves developing and validating requirements for photonic communication systems, leading design documentation, and managing supplier performance.

Responsibilities
Develops and validates requirements for rf photonic, fiber-optic communication, and free-space optical communications systems and components
Works with systems engineering teammates to develop communication, network and system architectures to integrate multiple systems into higher level systems and platforms
Leads development of trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analysis to optimize system, unit, and component designs
Leads develop of design and analysis documentation to demonstrate compliance to design, performance and qualification requirements
Develops new and improved modeling and simulation techniques
Leads development and execution of critical tests to validate performance of designs to requirements
Manages critical supplier and partner performance to ensure compliance to requirements
Provides support to products throughout their lifecycle by providing guidance and support to resolve complex issues
Supports project management by providing coordinating development of work statement, budget, schedule and other required inputs and conducting appropriate reviews
Leads development of major sections of large-scale proposals to support development of new business
Works under consultative direction
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
7+ years of design experience designing, developing, testing, troubleshooting digital communications, photonic and/or optical units and systems for various applications
Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship
An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required
This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a 'U.S. Person' as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. 'U.S. Person' includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee
Preferred
Level 4: 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Level 5: 10 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Master's degree or higher in Engineering or Physics
10+ years of design experience designing, developing, testing, troubleshooting photonics circuits, and systems for various applications including space
In-depth knowledge of optics, laser systems, photonic devices, optical low noise amplifiers, multi-watt optical high-power amplifiers, as well as hands-on experience in prototype development and testing
Familiar with the latest advancements in photonics and researching new technologies
Active Secret, Top Secret, or SSBI Clearance
