ASSET ACCOUNTANT I or II
NEOGOV is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Asset Accountant I or II within the Administrative Division of the Legislative Counsel Bureau. The role involves managing fixed assets and providing technical accounting services, collaborating with various departments to ensure accurate record-keeping and compliance with accounting standards.

Responsibilities
Working with LCB divisions, units and departments to obtain and verify inventories of fixed assets
Reconciling the inventories of fixed assets to the records in the fixed asset module in Tyler ERP PRO 10 accounting software, and update the Tyler ERP PRO 10 records accordingly
Preparing disposal entries monthly and processing correction entries, as needed
Processing asset transfer and deletion requests on an on-going basis
Collecting relevant data and preparing entries related to construction in progress, leases, financed purchases and subscription-based IT arrangements, in accordance with the relevant GASB statements
Calculating depreciation and preparing interim and annual financial statements for fixed assets in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
Auditing routine transactions and resolving discrepancies
Reviewing, updating and providing recommendations for new policies and procedures related to the accounting for fixed assets, and assisting in new implementations, as needed
Establishing and maintaining relationships with appropriate support staff of LCB divisions, units and departments and providing exceptional customer service and support, including, without limitation. addressing accounting-related questions and assisting with asset-related matters, as needed
Understanding the goals and objectives of assigned tasks and informing the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Accountant of progress or problems
Keeping abreast of new accounting standards and LCB projects, changes or developments impacting financials
Performing other duties, as assigned
Administering and tracking pre-paid expenses, inventory and other assets
Developing proficiencies in all areas of accounting services through cross-training with team members
Providing backup support to other accounting staff and performing general administrative duties, as needed
Performing other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
A minimum of an associate's degree in accounting or other closely related field
At least 2 years of progressively responsible experience in the accounting profession, including a minimum of 1 year of experience in fixed assets (for Asset Accountant I)
At least 4 years of progressively responsible experience in the accounting profession, including a minimum of 2 years of experience in fixed assets (for Asset Accountant II)
A Bachelor's degree in accounting or other closely related field is preferred (for Asset Accountant II)
The ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
A strong understanding of statutory and regulatory fiscal compliance standards
The ability to understand and apply governmental accounting practices
Experience using accounting-related computer programs and software
The ability to operate various office machines and tools such as a computer, adding machine, printer and keyboard
Strong and effective communication skills, both verbal and written
Effective leadership abilities, including effective team management and strategic decision-making
The ability to identify and assess problems and the resourcefulness and initiative to problem-solve and operate strategically
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to effectively multitask
The capability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and work efficiently under stressful conditions
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of documents and communications
