Responsibilities
Oversee and execute research billing audits, ensuring charge data aligns with medical records, internal billing guidelines, and federal regulations
Manage the documentation of audit findings, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and actionable insights supported by medical record evidence
Contribute to the development of an annual risk‑based audit plan and ensure audits are completed within established timelines
Prepare comprehensive audit reports, including findings and improvement recommendations, and deliver results to operational and compliance leadership teams
Partner with research operations to validate audit findings and translate them into effective training and corrective action strategies
Maintain in‑depth knowledge of Medicare billing requirements related to clinical research to ensure ongoing compliance
Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and data protection regarding patient information
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
4+ years of experience in auditing, clinical research, or related compliance functions
Strong auditing background, ideally within clinical research or healthcare compliance
Advanced understanding of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, and federal payer reimbursement standards
Solid knowledge of documentation, billing, and coding requirements
Ability to interpret and follow departmental SOPs related to billing and coding audit processes
