Sr. Associate Underwriter I

CopperPoint Insurance Companies is a leading provider of workers’ compensation and commercial insurance solutions. The Sr. Associate Underwriter I will assist the Underwriter with quoting, issuance, and ongoing maintenance of new and renewal business across Workers’ Compensation and Property & Casualty lines, while owning end-to-end process and workflow responsibility for assigned accounts.

Responsibilities

Prepare quotes based on set criteria/thresholds/revisions and instructions from Underwriting
Assist in reviewing quotes in rating system pre underwriting to ensure quality control for new and renewal business
Solicit renewal information from broker/agency to include sending required pre-renewal notifications
Quality assurance of below throughout the lifecycle of policy:
Loss information in account summary. Underwriting platform/system
Operations and exposures
Pricing
Premium Audits
Endorsements
Bind & Issue Policies:
Post bind, complete necessary Underwriting notifications, bind reinsurance, tracks quote subjectivities and update various policy expiration activities including quotes that were not accepted for future new business pipelining
Review endorsement transactions, cancellation requests and non-renewals for forwarding to Underwriter or approval if within AU Guidelines
Provide clear, timely and professional communication to agency personnel
Assist in training of new hires
Participates in Job Shadows and Quality Control
Takes the lead in overseeing and resolving Regulatory Bureau/Agency Errors and Crits
IE NCCI, WCIRB, Fronting Carrier Reporting resolutions
Triage and training for Fronting and Reinsurance Carriers
Complete special projects as assignment by manager
Assist in basic workflow and lower level technical questions from the team
Performs with complete autonomy
Participates in Enterprise Initiatives that require a Subject Matter Expert
Process Filings when needed
Handles the most difficult and complex accounts
Many to be considered high profile / white glove service eligible
Master within specified Lines of Business(es)
Ability to quote and bill Loss Sensitive and Retro rated policies
Ability to assist Leadership with maintaining written procedures are efficient, up to date and being utilized within the team
Liaison to other departments within the Enterprise as a Subject Matter Expert as it relates to:
Underwriting Systems Development, Training & Quality Programs, Regulatory Bureau, etc

Required

Bachelor's degree preferred in a related discipline i.e., Marketing, Finance, Business
Minimum 4 years of full-time work experience in insurance can be utilized on a year for year basis as a substitute for a degree
Knowledge and/or experience with commercial lines of insurance (Specifically Property, GL, Umbrella & Auto Lines is a plus), i.e., classification and experience rating
Insurance related designations are a plus (ie: AINS, AU, ARM, etc)
Must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills
Excellent customer service and communication (both verbal and written)
Ability to multi-task, prioritize workload and problem solve
Ability to work in a team environment
Must be able to partner effectively with Underwriters
Successful in a fast-paced environment and adaptable to change

We provide some benefits at no cost to the employee (Basic Life Insurance and AD&D at two times an employee’s annual salary, Short- and Long-term Disability coverage, and Employee Assistant Plan).
Employees will accrue 0.0692 hours of Paid Time Off (PTO) per paid hour, which may total 18 days a year.
In addition, employees will also receive 10 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
