Responsibilities

Perform as primary Linux Systems Administrator for a classified government contract
Communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, with internal and external customers, in written and verbal format
Maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network, software, and system engineers, project managers, end users, and customer and IT management
Support multiple networks while ensuring necessary administration tasks are completed and directing others as necessary
Analyze internal and external customer requirements and determine equipment and software requirements for solutions to problems by means of automated systems
Recommend and implement system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management
Provide backup and recovery services, manage file systems and disk space, and manage virus protection on a routine basis
Create and maintain user and computer accounts and modify file permissions and security access lists
Adhere to strict Information Systems security guidelines in all cases
Maintain security audit and logging information on all classified networked and standalone computers as directed by the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM)
Prepare security documentation for input to Computer Security
Report project status as required for all recurring and non-recurring efforts
Work under minimal direction and independently determine and develop approach to solutions
Experience with software development (Python, Java/Javascript, C++, C# or any modern object-oriented language) and scripting languages (i.e. Bash, YAML)
Experience with build tools (i.e., Maven, Ant, GNU make), continuous integration environments (i.e., Jenkins, GitLab, Bamboo) and/or repositories (i.e. Nexus, JFROG), configuration management tools (i.e. Git, Gitlab, Bitbucket)
Prior experience with DevOps and/or Software Factory implementation
Experience with virtualization and containers
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
Manage network security tools such as firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS) to protect the integrity of the Software Factory
Respond to security and system incidents and alerts, working collaboratively with cybersecurity teams
Maintain SWF logs (security reports, maintenance, CCB, inventory)
Submit CCB requests for network changes, VM’s provision/decommission

Required

Master's Degree with 6 years of IT experience; OR a Bachelor's Degree with 8 years of IT experience; OR an Associate's Degree with 10 years of IT experience; OR a High School Diploma/GED with 12 years of IT experience is required
Experience with working inside an end‑to‑end, automated delivery platform (the 'software factory') on tooling, pipelines, container/orchestration platforms, and self‑service infrastructure
Must have a DOD 8570 IAT Level II, or higher, certification (example: Security+ CE); maintaining the required certification will be a condition of continued employment
Must have Linux Operating Systems support experience
Linux Workstation and Server management experience is required
Candidates must have a current DOD Secret level security clearance (at a minimum) in order to be considered

Preferred

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, a Security+ CE, a RHCSA, and 10 years of Software‑Factory Linux Systems Administrator experience in a classified environment
Comfortable designing and maintaining CI/CD systems (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, etc.)
Managing container runtimes and orchestration platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes
Provisioning infrastructure as code with Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools
Experience working side‑by‑side with developers and QA to provide self‑service environments, integrate security scans, and monitor pipeline health
Experience with measuring success by deployment frequency, lead‑time for changes, and mean‑time‑to‑recovery of pipeline failures
Experience operating under, and managing systems within, DAAG, NISPOM Chapter 8, DCID 6/3-ICD 503, RMF, STIG, JAFAN, or JSIG information system environments
Understanding of basic networking, including subnets, routing, and VLANs; Cisco experience and/or certification
Windows server management experience
Windows AD, LDAP, VMWare, and knowledge of SAN storage systems
VMWare experience with current version
Knowledge of environmental monitoring tools (HBSS/Solar Winds/Splunk)
Rudimentary Scripting experience
Experience with the creation and deployment of system images in an enterprise environment
Experience with Certification & Accreditation process
Active Top Secret, SCI, or ability to obtain access to Special Programs is preferred
