Responsibilities
Serve as Aberdeen’s senior Finance expert advising the client on D365 Finance strategy, design decisions, and implementation approach
Assess current project status, identify risks and gaps in the Finance workstream, and develop mitigation strategies
Lead requirements validation sessions with client Finance leadership (CFO, Controller, Financial Analysts)
Build trust with client stakeholders through transparent communication and delivery excellence
Lead end-to-end design and configuration of D365 Finance modules: General Ledger, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Cash Management, Project Accounting
Document business requirements, functional specifications, and solution design decisions
Configure chart of accounts, financial dimensions, posting profiles, journal workflows, allocation rules, and period-end processes
Design financial reporting strategy including Financial Reporting, Power BI, and management reporting requirements
Lead data migration strategy for GL balances, customer/vendor master data, open transactions, and fixed assets
Develop comprehensive test strategies and lead UAT with Finance team
Create training materials and deliver training to finance users
Support cutover planning, go-live execution, and hypercare stabilization
Coordinate with Warehouse/Transportation and Procurement consultants on cross-module integration points
Work with technical resources on customizations, integrations, and data conversion
Participate in Aberdeen’s internal project reviews and client steering committee meetings
Qualification
Required
7+ years implementing and supporting Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (or AX 2012)
Minimum 4 full lifecycle D365 F&O implementations as Finance lead or senior consultant
Deep hands-on experience configuring all core Finance modules
Proven ability to design complex financial structures (multi-entity, intercompany, consolidations)
Strong understanding of financial close processes, reconciliations, and controls
Experience with Financial Reporting and building financial statements/reports
Data migration leadership including mapping, transformation, validation, and reconciliation
Senior-level presence with ability to lead workshops with C-suite executives
Experience assessing troubled projects or joining implementations mid-stream
Track record of building trust in politically complex environments
Ability to provide independent, objective advice even when it contradicts existing direction
Strong risk identification and mitigation skills
Excellent written and verbal communication for executive-level stakeholders
Comfortable working autonomously in fully remote environment
Self-directed with strong ownership mentality
Proactive communicator who escalates issues early
Collaborative team player who can navigate multi-party dynamics (client, Aberdeen, existing implementation partner)
Flexible and adaptable as project scope and priorities evolve
Preferred
Manufacturing, distribution, or services industry background
Multi-currency, multi-entity implementation experience
Power Platform skills (Power BI, Power Automate) for reporting and workflow automation
Project management or leadership certifications (PMP, SAFe, etc.)
D365 certifications (MB-310: Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance Functional Consultant)
Prior Big 4 or top-tier consulting firm experience
Experience working with boutique advisory firms or MSPs
