Interpreting tax laws, rules and policies
Ensuring compliance with miscellaneous taxes
Evaluating and reviewing business reports, tax files and previous audits
Scheduling and conducting audits with taxpayers
Auditing taxpayer records
Interviewing taxpayers
Preparing audit reports
Providing training
Answering tax professionals questions as a part of a contact center
Participate in outreach training to educate tax professionals and the public
Qualification
Required
You must be current on your state and federal tax filings and pass a criminal background check
Tax Examiner will perform complex audits, audits of state tax returns to determine compliance with Utah tax laws and rules
interpreting tax laws, rules and policies
ensuring compliance with miscellaneous taxes
evaluating and reviewing business reports, tax files and previous audits
scheduling and conducting audits with taxpayers
auditing taxpayer records
interviewing taxpayers
preparing audit reports
providing training
answering tax professionals questions as a part of a contact center
participate in outreach training to educate tax professionals and the public
has at least two year of experience reviewing fuel taxes
has the knowledge of the theory and practice of laws
has the ability to do extensive research
has the ability to communicate effectively
Personal tax filings and vehicle registrations must be current and complete
A conditional offer of employment will be made pending a satisfactory completion of a FBI level background investigation
Preferred
Has working knowledge of the Utah State Tax Commission policies and procedures
Four or more years of experience with auditing
A bachelor's degree or higher in a related field of study in Accounting
Transcripts need to be included with the application
