Attorney (contract)
Microsoft is seeking a licensed attorney to apply legal expertise in a high-volume business immigration environment. The successful candidate will support U.S. business immigration operations by conducting comprehensive reviews of visa filings and ensuring legal compliance while also training administrative staff on complex filings.

Responsibilities
Apply U.S. immigration legal knowledge to ensure daily workflow targets are completed and maintain integrity of the onsite case preparation program
Train administrative staff on USCIS filings, USCIS document processing, and PERM job postings while reviewing work product for legal accuracy and quality
Conduct comprehensive legal reviews of non-immigrant and immigrant visa filings both remotely and onsite
Address legal questions arising from I-9 completion and E-Verify processes
Support complex E-Verify issue resolution and train admins who support I-9 reverification
Assist managers with understanding PERM requirements and obligations during applicant review
Respond to emails from visa-dependent employees regarding visa and green card eligibility, travel, and maintenance of status
Assist with root cause analysis and resolution for legal and operational issues
Identify and propose legal process improvement ideas to increase legal quality, improve employee experience, streamline workflow, and build operational resiliency
Qualification
Required
Minimum 1 year of experience in immigration law, with business immigration experience preferred
Experience in high-volume legal operations or case management environments preferred
Background supporting E-Verify issue resolution preferred
Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
Active admission to a state bar in good standing
U.S. immigration law expertise with focus on business immigration matters
Strong legal research and analytical capabilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Attention to detail and commitment to legal accuracy and quality
Training and mentoring capabilities for administrative staff
Problem-solving skills with focus on root cause analysis
Process improvement mindset with ability to identify operational efficiencies
Familiarity with Microsoft tools and technology platforms
Time management skills to meet daily workflow targets
Preferred
Experience in high-volume legal operations or case management environments
Background supporting E-Verify issue resolution
